A lot of people may not agree on how
to build a blog, but most agree to be a successful blog you need two things; a
purpose (fill a need) and an audience.
Blogger is pretty easy to work with,
but it’s the details and the extras that help make your blog stand out and
build a loyal following and that’s what we hope to cover in this article.
Another point to remember is, after
you start to build your blog and you feel a flow and an audience you want to attract,
start building your blog's reader base and followers. This can be obtained the
easiest by making connections with those people you want to attract, if your
blog is about crafts, then put crafts in your search bar and look for websites
and blogs about crafts, and remember all craft sites are not created equal. For
example I love The Paris Apartment Style, so I tend to favor craft sites that
use a lot of projects that fall into, junking, antiquing and altered art. I am
not saying I can't find some items on other craft sites as well, I just choose
to focus, and hopefully cut my search time.
This is another reason why when you create
your blogs you remember to use the correct labels and using Blogger.com's new
search feature can hopefully help people find your site and the products they
are searching for. Nothing is worse than going to a site expecting to see one
thing and finding something totally different, so try to be as specific when
using tags, labels and search words.
EX: Garden Decor ----> Statues---->Garden Gnomes.
In the beginning it would be fine to
use your blogger address as your blog address. It used to be most people wanted
a domain name to add professionalism but so many up and coming blogs have
received great success using the BlogSpot subdomain. It is now a matter of
choice and how well you create your site and add valuable content, which is
what most readers want regardless of domain name specifics.
One good thing about having so many
blogs available online, you can find detailed and specific information. I have
one blog I enjoy for nothing but recipes, they may have other things but the
one thing they have, that is awesome is their never ending supply of no fail
recipes’. I also have a blog I go to for exercise advice and tips. I search out
other blogs and sites to see if other people have tried to tips and their
opinion and results.
It is wise to have a few post titles
and articles already wrote up and ready to post, also have an idea of the
layout you have in mind. You can browse other sites and blogs to get an idea of
what you want for your own site. Note I did not say copy exactly someone's
site, just use different sites for your own inspiration and if you find you've
used someone's basic design at least give them credit by making a simple
statement " I was browsing around for ideas for my blog and came across site A they had an awesome
looking site and it gave me the inspiration for whatever you choose to do as
a result of seeing their site. This
gives the site owner credit for their inspiration. Site owners clam down;
remember...." imitation is the sincerest form of flattery".
I hope this article has you motivated
