 .....Just to name a few
You will want to narrow these down to suit your purpose and you should also pick a niche you enjoy it is much easier to write/blog about things you enjoy and are familiar with.
There are some niche that are known as desperate niches, these are niches addressing problems such as weight loss and relationships. There are also niches called "evergreen" which is basically niches that are always in season. This kind of niche is slightly different than the desperate niche category, but they still tend to fall into the groups of relationships, health, and wealth.
Once you have your niche it is now time to get down to business.
You have to secure a domain name and host. When choosing a domain name you want to use the KISS method Keep It Simple Sweetie. You need to use the tips you learned about SEO and it's importance, when choosing your domain name. There are certain rules to follow to pick the best name for your site but, like in everything sometimes there are exceptions to the rule. Some domain names have nothing to do with the sites niche but the site still does well. You don’t want the name it to be too long and you want it to be catchy or easy to remember or both.I recommend getting one related to your niche, but not too focused on one keyword.
Once you have chosen and purchased a domain name then it is time to choose a host. GoDaddy, Hostgator, and Fatcow are a few I've used before and are very good. I have a review of each of these on my site. One thing about GoDaddy is in addition to picking your name form them you can also make use of their domain tool. You just type in a domain you want to check in the box, and it will tell you if it’s available. If the one you want is not available the tool will give you variations that are available.
When choosing a host also keep these tips in mind:
You can use sites like Blogger or Squidoo, but you’re taking a HUGE gamble! Since you don’t own these sites, they can choose to take down your business anytime they want and this is never a good thing. But there are safe guards to take to recover from your site being deleted. And if you are working on a limited budget those sites can at least help you to get started and make your presence known online. You have to work around your own budget. I have other posts that cover all the finer details of choosing a host and domain and also how to begin setting up your site.
Congratulations you are on your way! Stay tuned for more details on what to do after you have your site up and running.
